Game of the Night - Voting Guide

Rather than letting the Republican Presidential Primary voters have all the fun, the Augusta Basketball Report has set up a poll to allow readers to "nominate" Friday's "Game of the Night."  The last three featured games, (Josey@Westside, Jan 24; Washington County@Butler, Jan 27; and Westside@Thomson, Jan 31) have been selected from the super competitive region 3 AAA race.  This Friday, we add the possibility of featuring three other area teams at or near the top of their respective region standings: the Aquinas Fighting Irish, the Evans Knights, and the Laney Wildcats.  Vote directly to the right of this post.  If you need help, refer to the following Augusta Basketball Report "Cheat Sheet:"

Burke County Bears (14-4, 4-4) at Washington County Golden Hawks (19-0, 8-0)
This sub region 3A AAA contest gives the Bears an opportunity to make a move for the sub region's second position and the resulting region tournament bye.  But handing the Golden Hawks their first loss and doing it in Sandersville will be extremely difficult.  Washington County's stingy defense has yet to give up 50 points or more in a game this season!

Washington Wilkes Tigers (3-20, 2-6) at Aquinas Fighting Irish (17-4, 8-0)
The Augusta Basketball Report has flooded the video screen with footage from some strong back court tandems this season (Westside's Frank Booker and Ronald Campbell, the Augusta Eagles' Austin Crown and Matt Miller, etc).  But we have yet to feature Aquinas's Michael Scott and Ahmed Hill.  This sophomore duo is likely to provide highlights far into the future.  Aquinas looks poised to be the Region 7A A regular season champions.

Josey Eagles (14-8, 5-3) at Thomson Bulldogs (18-3, 6-2)
The Eagles will attempt to move into a tie for sub region 3B AAA's second position with a win.  But after losing to Westside at home Tuesday, the Bulldogs will be motivated to defend their home court, and to work towards securing a first round region tournament bye.

Glenn Hills Spartans (10-12, 4-4) at Butler Bulldogs (13-9, 5-3)
Combined with a Washington County victory over Burke County, a Bulldog win would clinch second place in sub region 3A AAA and give Butler a first round region tournament bye.

Effingham County Rebels (20-1, 8-0) at Evans Knights (14-9, 6-2)
The Knights look to hang on to the second position in the sub region 2B AAAA standings with a home upset over the Rebels.  Some Augusta fans may recognize 6'7" Rebel forward Jakeenan Grant, who plays on the same AAU basketball team as Aquinas guards Michael Scott and Ahmed Hill in the off season.

Screven County Gamecocks (3-15, 2-4) at Laney Wildcats (19-4, 6-0)
The Wildcats are poised for another deep post season run, and the Gamecocks will have their hands full in Augusta Friday.
