That wraps up our live (or slightly delayed) blogging of the quarterfinal match up between Effingham County and Richmond Hill. Stay tuned as we follow Effingham County and Evans (highlights from today's game to come) through the region 2-AAAA tournament. We will also continue coverage of the region 3-AAA tournament at Josey High School, the region 7-A tournament at Aquinas, and possibly the region 3-AA tournament, which includes the Laney Wildcats.

FOURTH UPDATE:
While you are waiting for clips from tonight's Effingham County - Richmond Hill game, we share the video from the first time the Augusta Basketball Report covered the Rebels. Effingham County visited the Evans Knights on Friday, January 28, in a region contest. Watch as 6'7" sophomore forward Jakeenan Grant and junior guard Jay Wright battle with guards Miles McDavid, and Damion Foreman, along with the rest of the Evans Knights.
THIRD UPDATE:
In our first attempt at live blogging, we had some technical difficulties. Many of the highlights that we were ready to share got caught in "cyberspace," but we are loading them up to share ASAP! So stay tuned. Our man on the scene says the clips are worth the short wait.
With that said, I get to the bottom line: The Effingham County Rebels defeated Richmond Hill Wildcats 48-34. It has been nearly three decades since the Rebels have reached the state tournament. And Richmond Hill upset the Rebels last season in this same quarterfinal round, denying Effingham County a trip to the state tournament.
But the wait is over, and the Rebels (25-1) move to Friday's semifinal round in the region 2-AAAA tournament.
Now stay tuned for the highlights from the Rebels' victory!
SECOND UPDATE:
More Highlights from the first half. Watch Richmond Hill make a run to close Effingham County's second quarter lead to 21-20 just before the first half buzzer. #14 Spencer Buck makes a 3 pointer off the dribble. And after a Richmond Hill block and a save, Buck lays the ball in at the buzzer to cut the lead to 1.
We have worked out the bugs and we will now begin live (with a slight delay) blogging the Effingham County - Richmond Hill 2-AAAA region tournament quarterfinal match up. Effingham County is the number one seed and Richmond Hill is the number four seed. The winner earns a spot in the state tournament. The loser goes home!
Update: Effingham County leads 21-20 at the break after a Richmond Hill score at the buzzer cuts the Rebel lead to 1!
Here is the first highlight from first half action. Big left handed dunk by Richmond Hill player (at the time, Richmond Hill went up 11-7)...
