Aiken Lady Hornets: A Team to Watch

Becoming fully familiar with the boys and girls teams in Augusta, North Augusta, Aiken, and Columbia may take a little time.  Remember our background is most firmly rooted in the Augusta area and with the boys scene.  But we believe we will be fully informed in no time.  Until then we will rely on intuition in making some early calls.

I will call our labeling of the Aiken Lady Hornets as a "team to watch," much like we recently did with Greenbrier and Hephzibah, an educated guess.  Last season's win-loss record was not overwhelming.  But the team is off to a strong 4-2 start this season.  In addition to rolling past Silver Bluff (twice), Glenn Hills, and Strom Thurmond, the Lady Hornets two losses have come to traditional powers Laney and Spring Valley by a total of seven points.

The video highlights above from Aiken's recent victory over Silver Bluff show a balanced team willing to share the ball and able to knock down perimeter shots.  Tuesday's opponent is Strom Thurmond.  That game and upcoming match ups with Westside and Spring Valley will help reveal the direction of this team.  The early signs are positive.
