Game Summary:
Two highly regarded teams coming off losses losses in quarterfinal round play battled fiercely in Friday's Capital City Classic. Aquinas, a power in class A Georgia basketball, sprinted to a 34-25 lead just before halftime after its lethal guard duo of Ahmed Hill and Michael Scott consistently scored off the dribble. Hill, a 6'5" shooting guard who may be the best player we've seen this season, routinely scores a ton of points. But his running mate Michael Scott is also capable of carrying a heavy load. And it was evident in the first half that both were on their "A game."
The fact that Ridge View was capable of regrouping and gaining control of the game in the second half is a testament to the program's tradition of winning. The Blazers routinely exploited a size advantage in the second half, as Jose Roman and Jarrell Brantley went to work, eventually securing a 50-46 Ridge View lead late in the game.
But Hill and Scott were not to be outdone on this day. The two consistently made difficult plays look easy during the second half, combining to score 51 of Aquinas's 64 points. Watch the highlights below to see what one of the southeast's most exciting tandems can do on a given day, even while facing one of the deepest and most impressive teams around.
