Aquinas Moves On To Championship

On Friday night, Aquinas defeated Hancock Central 56-36 to advance to the championship game of the  Region 7A tournament.  The Fighting Irish will play the winner of the Wilkinson County vs Georgia Military game tomorrow night at 8:30.

It was a sloppy game throughout, especially in the first half.  Despite not playing their best game, Aquinas was still in control from the start, taking a 21-9 lead into halftime.  The Irish did not look back after that.

Hancock County played a good zone defense and forced Aquinas to take outside shots.  In the first half Aquinas did not shoot very well, so they relied on their defense to get steals and get out in transition.  But, in the second half Ahmed Hill (29 points) and Michael Scott (16 points) began to heat up.  They began to hit the outside shots that they did not make in the first half.  Once Aquinas hit their groove it was too much for Hancock Central.

Ahmed Hill did not have his best night shooting, particularly in the first half.  But, he was still able to get to the free throw line and score points early.  He was also very active on the boards, as he snatched down 16 rebounds.  He also provided this HUGE putback slam (http://tinyurl.com/ckvsuyy)
Hopefully it can make it on Sportscenter's Top 10 plays, but to do it we all need to tweet it at Sportscenter as much as possible.

Watch the highlights above to see how Aquinas was able to advance to the Region 7A Championship.
