Darlington Knocks Out Strom Thurmond




This evening Darlington defeated Strom Thurmond 73-64, in the second round of the South Carolina state playoffs. Darlington lead the first three quarter, and their biggest lead was a 10 point lead that lasted less than a minute. Both team were looking to push the ball and get quick baskets. Both did just that.

With seven minutes left in the 4th quarter Thurmond made a push to even the score at 49-49. Darlington would then go on a 11-3 run to make the score 60-52. From then on Darlington would keep a commanding lead until the end. James Richardson led the way for Darlington with 23 points including 13 in the second half. Frankie Johnson finished the night with 14 points for Darlington. Strom Thurmond had four players in double digits. For the Rebels Jarsegio Kemim and Aaron Cook had 12, Daquarius Johnson had 15, and Baylor Jones finished with 10 points.

Darlington will go on to play the winner of Orangeburg-Wilkinson and Myrtle Beach.
