Evans defeated Grovetown at home Friday, finishing regular season sub region play with a 9-0 record. Grovetown finished the regular season in a three way tie with Greenbrier and Lakeside for sub region 2A-AAAAA's second position with a 3-6 record.
The game started with the county rivals swapping blows. But Evans threw the knock out punch before the end of the first half. Evans' Jacob Buchanan was relentless in the paint. The senior scored 25 in his final home game. Buchanan did the job on both ends, drawing four charges. And point guard Damion Foreman, who scored 16 points, created numerous turnovers that led to easy transition baskets.
Grovetown's CJ Cooper finished with 14 points, including 4 three-pointers.
