Westside Advances in Dominant Fashion



Westside defeated Jeff Davis Wednesday night in the First round of the State tournament by a score of 74-53. The Patriots will play Saturday in the Second round.

Jeff Davis started the game on a high note, knocking down the first three baskets of the game. The 7-0 run at the beggining of the game would be the only lead for Jeff Davis. Westside went on a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game and dominate from that point on. The first half ended with Westside leading 37-29.

The Patriots' defense kept Jeff Davis from running any style of offense, and created easy baskets at the the other end. Frank Booker started the night off slow but finished the night with 28 points including 12 in the Fourth quarter. Quinton Phillips posted 22 points on the night. Phillips had a great game and controlled the boards for Westside.

Westside will play Saturday in the Second round of the State tournament.
