Cross Creek Off to Fast Start

The Cross Creek Razorbacks opened summer league play Monday with a 59-36 win over Jefferson County.  The Razorbacks are led by senior Traire Moore, who led last season's team in scoring.  And fellow seniors Marcus Lofland and Isaiah Medina have played heavy minutes during the past two seasons as well.  The trio is joined by a group of sophomores and juniors who led the Razorbacks junior varsity team to the Richmond County championship last season.

This year's squad plays very hard, causes turnovers, attacks the basket, and shoots well from the perimeter.  Cross Creek plays Butler Wednesday night at 8 P.M. at Butler High School.  Enjoy the highlights (above) of Cross Creek's summer debut.

Richmond Advances to Quarterfinals in Region 3-AAA Tournament

In the opening round of the region 3-AAA tournament, the Richmond Academy Musketeers defeated the Cross Creek Razorbacks 45-39.  The Musketeers played well defensively and passed the ball extremely well during the first two quarters, establishing a 31-16 lead at intermission.  The Razorbacks made two attempts to get back into the game, cutting Richmond's lead to 5 twice, once in the third quarter (31-26) and another time in the fourth (38-33).  But Jonathan Bradley and Marcus Walden made key baskets to help Richmond retain the lead.

The Musketeers advance to Wednesday's quarterfinal round to face top seeded Washington County.

Region Round Up: Washington County Stays Unbeaten

The Washington County Golden Hawks defeated the Cross Creek Razorbacks Tuesday, moving to 22-0 overall and 10-0 in sub region play.  The Razorbacks fall to 11-14 overall and 2-8 versus sub region opponents.

Washington County's formidable defense smothered Cross Creek early, forcing turnovers that led to easy transition baskets.  The Golden Hawks also shot well from the three point line, making five first half three pointers.  After taking a 33-9 lead, Washington County withstood a Razorback surge and eventually cruised to the team's 22nd straight win.
