The Rock Goes 3-0 at Crusader Classic

Tonight we continue posting as much information and highlights as possible about the unofficial "first weekend" of the high school basketball season.  In addition to the Hoops Preview, we also observed a tournament of a different kind, the Crusader Classic in Ludowici, Georgia, featuring some of the southeast's finest "prep school" and independent school teams.

The Rock's (FL) 6'11" center Joel Embiid recently committed to attend Kansas University.  Embiid contributed to the Gainesville based independent school's 3-0 run through the Crusader Classic last weekend.  The future Jayhawk is an agile center with a nice shooting touch around the basket.

The highlights above show Embiid scoring playing against the Greater Augusta Independent School (GAIS).  Embiid obviously enjoyed a massive height advantage in this game.  But Embiid's size was not the deciding factor in this game.  The Florida team's accurate outside shooting (11 made 3 pointers) and disciplined half court attack carried the team to this victory.  And the trend continued during games two and three.  Point guard Mitchell Wilbeckin and wings Pape Diatta and Christian Benson were impressive throughout the tournament.  Watch them in action in the highlights below of the Rock's 87-53 opening game victory over GAIS.
