Spartans' Quiet Assassin: Naquan Turner (Thoughts from the Weekend)

By handily defeating every team on its brutally difficult schedule, Glenn Hills has established itself as our area's premiere team.  And the Spartans will visit Aquinas Tuesday to face our area's premiere player, Ahmed Hill.  But although Glenn Hills regularly is praised for its deep and balanced attack, the Spartans' Naquan Turner has quietly played as well as almost anybody around.

Turner routinely scores, distributes the ball, and plays a good floor game.  He is a strong, athletic guard who has no weaknesses.  At times we've seen him hurt teams by attacking the basket in the open floor.  At others, like in the highlights above from the Spartans' win over North Augusta, we've seen him play patiently and knock down the open three pointer.  And Turner always plays unselfishly, setting an example that his younger teammates have quickly followed this season.

So when you are tempted to think that Tuesday's game between Glenn Hills and Aquinas is a battle between a "bunch of solid guards" on one side and a duo (Hill and point guard Michael Scott) on the other, I suggest you remember Glenn Hills quiet assassin, Naquan Turner.
