Burke County tops Hephzibah in Region Road Victory
After a very respectable sub region loss to Glenn Hills, Burke County responded Tuesday with an important 46-42 road win at Hephzibah. The win moves the Bears into a three way tie for second place in sub region 3B-AAAA play, one game behind area power house Glenn Hills. A late third quarter three pointer from Donquel Green set Burke County on a path to victory in a very physical battle in the paint and on the boards.
The first half featured multiple lead changes, and neither team led by more than five points during the first 16 minutes in a grinding game featuring good inside play and offensive rebounding.
The theme carried into the second half, and the Bears eventually amassed a 38-30 lead. 10 interior points from Hephzibah's Tamyrik Fields was not enough for the Rebels to be successful as Kelvin Henry led the way with 14 points in the Bears' victory.
Burke County (11-4, 2-1) faces Butler at home in another region matchup on Friday, while Hephzibah (6-7, 0-3) heads to ARC.
