After dropping the first game of its season Wednesday, Glenn Hills responded quickly with a 69-59 home win over region foe Hephzibah Friday. The Spartans (18-1, 5-1) remain at the top of the region 3B-AAAA standings.
Glenn Hills head coach Travis Mcrae appreciated being back on the court only 48 hours after Wednesday's disappointment. "The good thing was, we only had one day to marinate on the loss before we got back in the gym." The Spartans appeared ready from the beginning, establishing a 16-4 lead, scoring 6 points off of turnovers and making 3 of 4 three pointers during the stretch.
The Rebels responded, getting contributions from Logan Johnson and Stephen Washington, and eventually trimmed the deficit to four points by halftime. After using a balanced attack to widen the lead to 10 at the end of three quarters, Aubrey Mcrae tallied 15 of his team leading 21 points in the final period to lead Glenn Hills to victory.
Hephzibah's Tamyrik Fields scored 24 points, including 18 in the second half. The Rebels' sub region record now stands at 1-5.
