Laney Continues Domination Through Playoffs to Advance to Final Four



Laney defeated Pelham in the 3rd round of the playoffs by a score of 59-40. Pelham started the game off with 2 quick free throws and did not score for another two minutes. Laney went on a 7-0 run in those two minutes to gain a 7-2 lead. Laney would not lose the lead from then on but Pelham kept the game close. The first period ended 14-11.

The Wildcats turned it on in the second quarter outscoring Pelham 18-8. Simone Smith scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half to help give Laney a 13 point lead.

Khadijah Cave and Simone Smith was too much for Pelham to handle in the paint. Cave logged a double-double on the night with 16 points and 21 boards. Destiny Brewton logged a double-double for the Wildcats as well with 11 points and 10 assists.

Laney advances to the Final Four to play the winner of Lovett and Kendrick on Friday, March 1st.
