This should be a very exciting game. Last year these same two teams met in the same round of the state playoffs. The Laney Wildcats prevailed, defeating the Bulldogs 71-67. The Bulldogs will be seeking revenge after that tough loss.
This year, the Wildcats' only defeat came in an 8 point loss against Washington County (29-0), who is also playing today. The Bulldogs' only loss was to a region opponent, the Monticello Hurricanes (5-15). Neither team has had a close game so far in the playoffs. In the playoffs, the Laney Wildcats have an average margin of victory of over 25 points, while Morgan County's is over 38 points.
The Laney Wildcats have been to the elite eight elite each of the last five years. This game will be the Morgan County Bulldogs' second appearance in the elite 8 in the last 5 years.
