Hoops Preview Action: Dontae Coleman

Tonight we continue posting as much information and highlights as possible about the unofficial "first weekend" of the high school basketball season in, and beyond, the greater Augusta area.  ABR Live was present Saturday (November 10) at Evans High School for the Hoops preview scrimmage games, featuring some of Georgia and South Carolina's finest basketball programs.  And we also observed a tournament of a different kind, the Crusader Classic in Ludowici, Georgia, featuring some of the southeast's finest "prep school" and independent school teams.  Here we post stories and highlights from both events!

I arrived at the Hoops Preview during the end of the Butler-Spring Valley game expecting to see a tight game featuring one of the country's top sophomores, Spring Valley's PJ Dozier.  Instead I was informed immediately by my ABR TV partner, Will Avery, that Butler sophomore Dontae Coleman had outplayed everyone on the court and led his Bulldogs to a convincing victory in the scrimmage game.

I can't say I was totally surprised.  We've been following Coleman since before his high school days.  We've watched him develop from a guard who penetrates and finishes with either hand into someone who balances that style with the ability to knock down the long ball.

Avery and I originally had Coleman on one of our ABR TV pre-season all area teams.  Early in the pre-season, Coleman is proving we never should have taken him off!
