Greenbrier Gets First Region Victory Against Grovetown

The Greenbrier Wolfpack posted its first sub region win, a 46-42 victory at home versus Grovetown, entering what is beginning to look like a 2A-AAAAA race for second place in the regular season standings.  The Wolfpack find themselves only one game behind Grovetown and Lakeside, who each possess 2-3 sub region records.

After a low scoring first half that ended in a 19-19 tie, Greenbrier outplayed the Warriors during the third quarter, opening a 34-26 lead entering the final period.  Greenbrier's Kayshawn Marshall scored 6 points during the stretch, and the Wolfpack held Grovetown to only 3 points for much of the quarter.

Grovetown clawed its way back to within three points late in the fourth quarter before coming up just short.  Marshall led all scorers with 15 points.  Grovetown's Juwan Rouse scored 13 points.

Greenbrier will aim to avenge an earlier heartbreaking loss at the buzzer to Lakeside Tuesday as the Panthers visit the Wolfpack's home.  Grovetown will host the sub region's current leader Evans on the same night.
