Grovetown's Morris Nails Buzzer Beating Game Winner

All four of Lakeside's sub region games have been decided on the final possession.  After getting the better of two of the first three, including this dramatic home win versus Greenbrier and this road win at Grovetown, the Panthers were dealt a crushing blow in the form of a Logan Morris three pointer that gave Grovetown a 48-45 victory at Lakeside Tuesday.

Morris, a sophomore, was not the game's only hero.  Teammate and fellow sophomore Solomon Gause scored 27 of the Warriors' 48 points after scorching the nets from deep throughout the spirited contest.  After Lakeside's Luke Harmon and Bryce Adair helped to build an early lead, Gause made a three pointer just before halftime to tie the game at 19.

Gause continued to pour it on in the second half, drilling consecutive three pointers during the third quarter.  But Lakeside responded by taking a 38-34 lead following a 10-0 run.  Gause answered with 2 three pointers, and Morris soon tied the game at 43 with a three of his own.  After Gause made an 18 footer to tie the game at 45, Morris would provide the final, and most important, blow to Lakeside and its full house of supporters.

Lakeside and Grovetown, each sporting 2-2 records, are now locked in a tie for second place in sub region play.

Gause's 27 points led all scorers.  Morris added 12.  Sam Powell had 14 and Bryce Adair contributed 11 for Lakeside.

Lakeside will travel to Evans (16-4) this Friday.  Grovetown visits Greenbrier (2-15).
